Ceiling mounted at least 300 mm from any wall and 1–3 m horizontally from the appliance, or wall mounted above the height of any door or window and at least 150 mm from the ceiling

How to check it on site
Confirm the alarm position against the appliance location at handover, and check it has not been moved to suit decoration.
Common failure
Alarm fixed directly above the appliance or tucked into a corner where air does not circulate.
