Minimum lap where sheets of damp-proof membrane meet, and the requirement to seal the membrane to the damp-proof course.

    Basis in regulation

How to check it on site

Check laps before concrete is poured or the slab is covered. Every lap should be taped or welded, and the membrane carried up and sealed into the DPC at the perimeter.

    Common failure

Membrane torn by reinforcement or barrow traffic, or finished short at the perimeter so the slab edge stays open to ground moisture.
